Value
Intended
Use
The
test detects the urease enzyme of Helicobacter
pylori present in gastric mucosal
biopsies.
Principle
The
Endosc-Hp® Test consists of a twin
well cartridge containing urea, phenol
red and buffer salts when reconstituted,
and a buffer. If the urease enzyme of
Helicobacter pylori is present
in a biopsy specimen, the rise in pH
associated with the hydrolysis of urea
causes a change in colour from yellow
to pink/red. The colour change indicates
a positive reaction and confirms the
presence of Helicobacter pylori.
Features
Accurate
- Studies show good correlation and
specificity of >98% and sensitivity
of >93%.
Simple
- Buffer added to reconstitute substrate,
sample added, colour change result.
Procedures for taking a gastric biopsy
remain unchanged and unaffected.
Quick
- Positive test results can be gained
within 30mins for immediate action.
Low
Cost - Diagnosing Helicobacter
pylori at endoscopy is the low
cost option in comparison to other diagnostic
tests.
High
Value - It is extremely difficult
to diagnose Helicobacter pylori
related gastritis by endoscopy alone.
This simple test enhances the effectiveness
of outcome.
